BE:LAB OFFERS ONE-ON-ONE HELP AND CLASSES

As we move into spring at the Southeast Steuben County Library, BE:Lab staff, Jenn Gaylor and Marshall Hyde will continue to offer one-on-one help with resume writing, job searches and technology questions about computers, eReaders or other devices. This one-on-one service is offered Monday through Saturday during library hours. Patrons are welcome to walk in. However, calling ahead for an appointment is recommended. Make an appointment by calling (607) 684-0360 or emailing belab@stls.org. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own laptop or device. However, the library does have laptops available for those who need them.

 

In addition to private appointments, BE:Lab also offers classes on Thursdays. Participants must sign up for classes by calling (607) 684.0360 or emailing belab@stls.org.

 

April 12 from 2-4 p.m. | Photographs and Computers

Learn to move your digital photos from your camera to your computer. Please bring your camera and laptop if you have one, or a flash drive or CD to transfer the photos to your home computer. You must have basic computer skills to attend this course. We invite you to bring your own laptop, and will provide laptops for those who need them.

 

April 19 from 2-4 p.m. | Microsoft Excel 2010: Course I

Learn the latest features of Microsoft Excel 2010. This tutorial will walk you through cell basics and how to modify columns, rows and cells. We invite you to bring your own laptop (if you have Excel 2010), and will provide laptops for those who need them.

April 26 from 2-4 p.m. | Facebook: Managing the New Timeline

Learn how to use the new timeline format on the popular social media website to stay in touch with family and friends. You should have basic computer skills to attend this course. We invite you to bring your own laptop, and will provide laptops for those who need them.

 

May 10 from 2-4 p.m. | Microsoft Excel 2010: Course II

Attendees must have taken “Microsoft Excel 2010: Course I” or have working knowledge in basic use of Microsoft Excel 2010.  Learn how to format cells and data, learn simple formulas and learn to create a table in Microsoft Excel 2010.

 

May 17 from 2-4 p.m. | Turn Your Slides into Digital Photos

Do you have a carousel of old slides that you would like to turn into photographs? Learn how to scan your slides with BE:Lab’s latest technology and turn them into digital memories that you can print or save to your computer. We invite you to bring a few of your own slides to scan to digital, your own laptop and a flash drive to save your digital photos to.  We will provide laptops for those who need them. 

 

May 24 from 2-4 p.m. | Microsoft Excel 2010: Course III

Attendees must have taken “Microsoft Excel 2010: Course II” or have working knowledge in basic use of Microsoft Excel 2010. Learn worksheet basics, how to sort data, multistep formulas and how to create a chart in Microsoft Excel 2010.

 

May 31 from 2-4 p.m. | Introduction to Windows 7

Learn how to use the latest version of Windows software. This tutorial walks you through the new Windows 7 software. Simplify everyday tasks and make the things you do every day easier with improved desktop navigation. See the new features in Internet Explorer 8 help you find and use things on the web a lot faster.

 

June 21 from 2- 4 p.m. | Turn Your Paper Photos into Digital Memories

Want to learn how to turn your old paper photos into digital photos to save on your computer, flash drive, or CD?  Join the BE:Lab and learn how to scan your photos and save them digitally! We invite you to bring a few old photos to scan to digital, your own laptop and a flash drive to save your digital photos to. 

 

June 28 from 2-4 p.m. | Excel II Project: Creating a Budget

Learn how to create a budget in Microsoft Excel 2010. This is a level II class; you must have taken a level I Microsoft Excel 2010 class or have prior experience with this program. We invite you to bring your own laptop, and will provide laptops for those who need them.
