June is Home Safety Month! Learn about Pro Action's Emergency Response System!
An important service provided by Pro Action's Yates County Office for the Aging is the Emergency Response System. This system provides immediate assistance in the event of an emergency. Anyone who feels their safety would be enhanced or is 60 years of age or older, frail or disabled, has a medical condition, or is living alone can benefit from ERS.
The system works through your telephone line and calls go directly to the dispatcher at the Yates County Sheriff's Department. Calls for assistance may be made by pressing the button on the unit itself or on the pendant or bracelet worn by the user. The smoke detector option will send a call to contact the fire department. In the event of a power outage, the unit provides battery backup for several hours.
A telephone call to Pro Action's Yates County Office for Aging at (315) 536-5515 makes it easy to obtain more information about ERS. When the service is requested, OFA gathers all of the necessary information and arranges for installation and testing of your ERS unit.
ERS helps people maintain their personal freedom and independent lifestyle. The system functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing individuals and their families with peace of mind.
