The Mobility Management department at the Institute for Human Services is collaborating with county Legislature’s Agriculture, Industry and Planning Committee in an effort to further seek ways to give rural residents better access to jobs, medical attention, and other aspects crucial to quality of life. Robin Gaige, Mobility Manager, continues to utilize the state Department of Transportation grant to coordinate more effective transportation in our neighboring rural areas. A major concern remains the lack of current bus routes to residents in 21 towns in the county besides Hornell, Bath, and Corning. The Mobility Management department is focusing its attention to marketing efforts to enlist the support of area employers, as well as encouraging car pools, volunteer and subsidized drivers.
