New Beginnings United Methodist Church Community Hall

300 Miller Street, Elmira, New York

Last fall, the 1st annual Chemung County Area “Make A Difference Volunteer Fair was held. Over 30 organizations who rely upon volunteers participated and approximately 12o participants came to this event to seek out potential volunteer opportunities and to learn more about the programs offered.  The committee is moving forward with plans for the 2nd annual volunteer fair. Our goal is to increase both the number and variety of participating organizations and of course to increase the number of attendees. We have made additional changes in this year’s fair that will benefit everyone:

  • Purchase of a blanket Certificate of Insurance policy to cover all participating organizations.
  • Increase marketing of event through paid and non-paid advertisements.
  • Seeking increased monetary sponsorship of event.
  • Reach out to organizations that rely upon volunteers of all ages and especially to those that have opportunities for students, families, young professionals and the boomer generation.
  • Working with educational institutions and area employers to share information about the fair with them and to encourage volunteerism amongst their staff and with their students.
  • Collaboration with 2-1-1 Helpline to develop a Virtual Volunteer Fair on the 2-1-1 “Give Help” website.

Be sure to SAVE the DATE as space is limited. Registration forms will be available after August 1st. An affordable $20.00 registration fee will help pay for theses added benefits.
