Steuben County Farm-City Day celebrates 10 years of promoting local agriculture this fall. The Burns Family Farm in Hornell will host the annual event Saturday, September 25. The farm is home to 200 milking cows and over 200 calves and heifers.
Farm-City Day is an educational, fun filled day on the farm where the public can get a first hand, behind the scenes look at how a modern dairy farm operates. Petting baby calves, picking a souvenir pumpkin, taking a wagon ride, getting lost in the corn maze, milking a cow by hand, watching baby chicks hatch, and playing in a giant pile of corn are just a few of the fun activities families can participate in.
Agribusinesses will be on hand to answer questions about farming and how the food you consume is produced. A petting zoo will feature baby calves, goats, sheep, bunnies, alpacas, pot-bellied pigs, and other animals that youngsters can pet. This family event is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome to attend.
