Aug. 18 golf tournament to benefit Elmira's underprivileged
ELMIRA - The Neighborhood Transformation Center will host a golf tournament at The Elmira Country Club on Sunday, Aug. 18. Golfers will not only enjoy the 18-hole Captain and Crew format followed by an awards banquet, but they will also have several contest opportunities along the way including a chance to shoot for $1,000,000.
The tournament benefits The Neighborhood Transformation Center, an Elmira-based Community Center designed to provide programs to disenfranchised, poverty-stricken families. Through programs such as parent classes, community meals and after school programs, the Neighborhood Transformation Center assists families to develop the skills that will help them build self-sufficient lives. The Neighborhood Transformation Center is located at 314 West Church Street in Elmira.
“Here at the Neighborhood Transformation Center, we have a vision. We want to work with the community to impact the community,” states Jeremy Cranmer, Executive Director, “We strive to work with families to meet their physical, emotional, and educational needs. We want to give families hope. We want to see whole life transformation in every family that we meet.”
Every program offered by the Neighborhood Transformation Center is free to the community, therefore the funds generated by the golf tournament will go towards the center’s programming and operating costs.
