2-1-1 HELPLINE Needs Your Help Testing New Option

2-1-1 HELPLINE is expanding its reach by adding two-way live texting to its access options. In addition to providing assistance by phone, web chat, and guided searches on www.211helpline.org, now text messaging is available as well! During our stealth phase, we would like to invite you or your colleagues to help us test the system. If you’re willing to send us a few text messages with requests for assistance (for services your agency offers or another), please contact Carol Wood for instructions.

Text messaging is the most common activity on mobile devices and we see it as an important new way for agency staff and the public to reach 2-1-1. We have joined a national texting platform, specifically for 2-1-1’s across the country, with a lot of options for helping people connect with the services they need. Anyone from the five counties we cover (Steuben, Chemung, Allegany, Schuyler, and Yates) will be able to reach 2-1-1 HELPLINE by text messaging.
