Turning Point, a service priority for Catholic Charities of Steuben, is increasing the amount of times people can visit the food pantry in the month of February. Normally, people can utilize Turning Point pantries twice a month. For the month of February, people can use Turning Point food pantries once a week for four weeks. This will only be in the month of February, unless circumstances change, such as another government shutdown.
Turning Point is increasing its service due to the December and January government shut down affecting federal employees. Turning Point is also making this change because people who have recently applied, recertified or had a change with their SNAP benefit (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or food stamps) enrollment may have to wait an increased amount of time to receive SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown.
While these circumstances do not affect all people – all people are welcome to utilize Turning Point pantries once a week for four weeks in the month of February.
Turning Point is asking the public for food and monetary donations for its food pantries due to an anticipated increase in pantry usage in the month of February. Turning Point has the following pantries:
• Turning Point Bath: The food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Donations are accepted from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please call (607) 776-8085 for more information or visit 23 Liberty Street in Bath.
