 RSVP Volunteer Opportunities August 2019

Steuben RSVP, which connects area seniors with rewarding volunteer opportunities, is making new opportunities available. Whether you want to assist once a week, once a month, or as an on-call substitute, your time is greatly needed and appreciated.

  • Head Start Volunteers - Make a difference in the educational success of children by helping prepare preschoolers fir kindergarten and beyond.  Volunteers provide a helping hand in classrooms and make it possible for teachers to give individual attention to children who need a little extra support.  Head Start and Universal Pre-K programs are located in nearly every school district in Steuben County, and assignments can be easily adjusted to fit your schedule.  Training for volunteers will be scheduled in late August for the 2019-2020 school year.  Call RSVP at 607-664-2298 and say YES to school success!

  • Keeping Seniors Safe at Home - Volunteers are the key to the Aging in Place movement.  It makes sense to help older adults stay at home, right where they want to be.  Agencies like Project Care and Faith in Action help older adults stay exactly where they want to be- staying at home, aging with dignity.  But they can’t do it without you and the little things you can do to help them get by.  Things like giving a ride to a doctor appointment, picking up a few grocery items, or stopping by for a visit and folding laundry together.  Contact RSVP and discover the simple ways you can become someone’s Helping Hands.

  • Calling all Couples for Home Delivered Meals - Have you ever thought about strengthening your relationship with your spouse, partner, relative or friend by serving others together?  With Home Delivered Meals, you can deliver smiles and a nutritious meal Together, and all it takes is one hour once per week.  Or maybe you would like to meet new people while helping others.  With Meals on Wheels, there’s always room for one more!  Routes are available throughout Steuben County, with the greatest need in Hornell, Bath and Corning.  Call RSVP for more info.

There are many other volunteer opportunities throughout Steuben County.  If you are looking to volunteer one day per month or every week, we can match you to a fulfilling opportunity.   Please call Mary Dugo at Steuben County RSVP at 607-664-2298 or email maryd@co.steuben.ny.us for more information.  Offices are located in Bath, Corning, and Hornell.
