The Arc of Steuben’s 24th Annual Arc Star Golf Classic raises over $33,000 for People in Need
BATH | The Arc of Steuben has announced that their 24th annual Arc Star Golf Classic was a success.The annual tournament was held on Friday, June 7, at the Bath Country Club, where a total of 30 teams competed and raised more than $33,000 for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
There were clear skies and sunshine as the teams began their day of golf, on-course contests, and other prize opportunities. Dedicated volunteers from the community, associates, and people supported by The Arc of Steuben ensured that everything went smoothly throughout the day; “We couldn’t have done it without them” said Event Chair, Sue Pietrzak.
Later, everyone enjoyed a banquet with dinner from A Slice of 209. Raffle prizes were drawn and awards were handed out. The winner of this year’s tournament was Universal Builders, with the team of Larry Fairman, Bob Weakland, Mike Palmer, and Billy Weakland.
The Honorary Chair was Relph Benefit Advisors and the silver sponsors included The Bonadio Group; Corning Inc.; KeyBank; Empire Access; Frey & Campbell, Inc.; Mercury Aircraft Foundation; Wegmans; and Siemens Industry Inc. Additionally, there were 28 corporate sponsors and underwriters, and dozens of small business donors, that showed their support for people with all abilities in their community.
Bernie Burns, Executive Director of The Arc of Steuben, said “We would like to say thank you to all of our sponsors and donors, your support will make a difference in someone’s life. Over the past 55 years The Arc of Steuben has provided services to thousands of people here in Steuben County and we could not have done that without you”.
The Arc of Steuben is looking forward to next year’s 25th Anniversary tournament, which will be held Friday, June 5, 2020.
The Arc of Steuben Foundation funds programs such as the Wish Upon an Arc Star program, which gives people once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Past granted wishes include adult strollers, an iPad to assist a person with communicating with family and teachers, and tandem bicycles. The program also helps to pay for medical needs not covered through insurance.
