People learn about2-1-1 Helpline through… their contacts with human service agencies, their families & friends and because we offer community presentations and printed materials. When faced with difficult situations, those unfamiliar with the resources available will contact a well-known agency, such as the Department of Social Services, Red Cross, United Way, or their faith community. IHS regularly provides information and 2-1-1 Helpline materials to these “First Points of Contact,” as well as all other human service agencies, school districts, and police departments. These organizations are then able to direct the caller to 2-1-1 Helpline. 2-1-1 is used across the country in order to increase awareness of and access to community-based services.
Support for 2-1-1 Helpline is provided by… the Steuben and Chemung County Departments of Social Services, United Way of the Southern Tier, Allegany County United Way and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
