What is Capacity Building?
"The only way to build a great organization
is to build capacity."
Capacity building is any intentional work of an organization that gives it an increased ability to achieve its mission and targets long-term operational sustainability.
Capacity building typically aims for internal operations management and administration, rather than actual delivery of programs. Functions that fall under this umbrella are organizational assessment, strategic planning, technology integration, board development, transition management, staff education and resource development.
More and more, funders and nonprofit organizations are realizing the link between strong internal organizations and strong external programs, and more paying more attention to their internal operations and the role it plays in their ability to implement effective programs.
The Institute takes a unique approach to capacity building in a rural management support organization by utilizing its staff strengths and the programs we provide. We have expertise and experience in multiples areas of capacity building, and work together in dynamic project teams to meet the needs of our member agencies. IHS approach
