Strategic Planning and Management
“If you don’t know where you’re going……
any path will do”
Strategic Planning is a Tool that provides guidance in fulfilling a mission with maximum efficiency and impact. A successful plan is, by definition, a usable plan – one that informs the organization’s activities as well as its long range view, and one that yields meaningful improvements in effectiveness, capacity and relevance.
The TCC group
At the Institute, we view the strategic plan as a concise document that sets the direction and general parameters for activities for the organization, with a more specific annual plan for each department/program, tied directly to the strategic plan. This gives the organization the ability to respond quickly to new opportunities that arise and new issues that challenge an organization.
We take a very practical approach to strategic planning. Much of the assessment work, beginning with a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) can be done outside of group settings and online, saving actual meeting time for facilitated collaborative work. We have developed and modified assessment tools that guide the process, and lead to an effective, measurable work plan.
Once an effective strategic plan is place, leadership and management have a tool to guide decision making and operations, and focus efforts where they have the greatest impact on organizational mission, sustainability and growth.
