For the fourth year in a row, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield is requesting your help preparing local kids for a successful school year. From now until August 17, area businesses, Catholic Charities and the Economic Opportunity Program (EOP) will be collecting new school supplies. School Supply Starter Kits and new backpacks will be distributed at two Back to School Kick-off events in Watkins Glen (August 22) and Elmira (August 30).
AIM has been chosen to take part in a new initiative called Healthy Community Living, and will offer a pair of independent living skills courses to people with disabilities next year.

The Arc of Steuben, a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Steuben County, had been awarded $37,500 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support The Arc of Steuben’s guardianship and recreation programs.
Rebecca Miller, residence coordinator, was named The Arc of Steuben’s Associate of the Month for June. Miller was nominated by Chari VanAllen, associate director of residential services, because she demonstrates the organization’s mission of being dedicated to people they support and their families by providing them with person-centered services.
