Turning Point is now accepting donations to its 10th annual Back-to-School Supply Drive for Steuben County students grades Pre-K through 12th. A new format this year – a School Supply Depot – means no sign ups are necessary to receive school supplies. In addition, Steuben County Rural Ministry will be distributing new socks and underwear for K to 12th-grade students.

This six-week educational program focuses on the needs of the caregiver. It is for family and friends who are caring for older adults suffering from long-term conditions. 

Steuben County Office for the Aging is holding public seminars on the topic of Medicare Insurance at its three locations. OFA's certified Medicare insurance counselors will provide information pertaining to basic Medicare, Medicare related health insurance, prescription plans, and low-income subsidies.

Legal Assistance of Western New York, Inc. is a non-profit organization serving low-income clients with civil legal problems in a 14-county region, including Steuben and Allegany Counties. The organization is asking community partners to help distribute and complete surveys to assess the legal needs of low-income residents.

Turning Point has partnered with Medical Answering Services (MAS), a New York State Medicaid-funded program based out of Syracuse, to provide bus tokens to connect people on Medicaid with medical appointments. This partnership was made possible through the efforts of the Institute for Human Services' (IHS) Mobility Management program.

Steuben County residents are being asked for ways to improve public transportation in the county. The purpose of this survey is to improve transportation services for residents of Steuben County. All survey information is confidential.

New York State's new rules for Paid Family Leave (PFL), which cover all NY employers with one (1) employee or more, will go into effect on January 1, 2018. The Tompkins County Workers' Center is putting out an announcement now, because NY employers that wish to do so are eligible to begin employee withholdings to pre-fund Paid Family Leave insurance beginning July 1, 2017.

Parkinson’s Disease Care New York (PDCNY) is a multi-disciplinary, largely virtual, Parkinson disease care network. This program aims to address barriers to access and improve satisfaction with care, quality of care, patient function, reduce caregiver burden and lower costs.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that $28.7 million in federal funding is available to help communities eliminate barriers to traditional transportation services and enhance public mobility alternatives for seniors and New Yorkers with disabilities.

Groups working to address the causes of poverty in Chemung, Schuyler and Tioga counties (New York) are invited to apply for a Catholic Campaign for Human Development small grant. Proposals are sought for projects benefiting and led by low-income people working together to bring about positive economic and/or social change in their communities.
