The calendar is set and full of spring and literary-minded programs at the Southeast Steuben County Library. Sign up is required for these programs by calling (607) 936-3713 ext. 502 or by stopping by the reference desk at the library.
If you have already signed up to be a book distributor for World Book Night please join us April 16 from 5-6:30 p.m. for a book pick-up reception. Pick up your books and enjoy some refreshments.
Teens can celebrate National Poetry Month April 26 at 5 p.m. during a Teen Poets Dinner and Discussion with poet Susan Deer Cloud and special guest, Michael Czarnecki of Foothills Publishing. At 6 p.m. Deer Cloud will give a reading. Afterwards, the mic will be open to the teens at the dinner to also read poems.
A plant exchange will be held May 6 from 3-4:30 p.m. Bring you plants and pick up tickets for exchange at 3 p.m. Volunteers will arrange the plants, and the exchange will begin at 4 p.m.
Quarterly Crafting group will meet June 2 at 4 p.m. Join us for a light meal of salad, pizza and desserts, then work on something you bring or pick a craft from one of the tables to try. Pleasant music and relaxed conversation are a highlight.
Poetry in the Afternoon will be held June 30 from 1-3 p.m. Join Buffalo area poet Lynn Ciesielski for a poetry reading and poetry open mic – open to local poets to read. Refreshments will be provided.
Ongoing Programs
Stamping with Chris Warner will be held the first Tuesday of the month in April and May at 5:30 p.m. There is an $8 materials cost associated with this program.
The Adult Creative Writers Group continues to meet the first Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m., and third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.
Crafting with Sandi will continue to be held the second Tuesday of the month in April and May at 6 p.m. In April participants will construct a sewing machine apron and May is T-bag folding cards.
Sit & Chat Craft continues to be held the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. Bring your own craft to work on while enjoying pleasant company.
