Volunteer in the Spotlight: Jerry and Lois Saxton

posted 4/17/2012

Jerry and Lois Saxton have been volunteering at the Institute for Human Services as drivers for the past 12 years, where they provide people a ride in their car, to get the people to where they need to go.  Typically, the Saxtons will make about 4 to 5 trips a week.   They started to volunteer with the institute because it was recommended by a friend, Vicki Grace from the Office of the Aging.

The couple agreed that their favorite part of volunteering is the feeling that they are doing something useful and productive with their time now that they are retired.  They said that they enjoy meeting people and normally do not find challenges when taking people out on drives.

They currently live in Bath, NY where Jerry also volunteers at the Curtiss Museum as a tour guide, the Red Cross as a case manager, and at the Military Academy for the selection committees.  When they are not volunteering, the Saxtons enjoy traveling, or spending time at their house on Keuka Lake where their family can come to visit and spend time with them.
