SOURCES OF STRENGTH - Suicide Prevention Strategies workshop

The Event:  The focus of this event is to hear about effective suicide prevention strategies using the Sources of Strength model and ways in which the model can be extended to meet suicide prevention needs.

Where:  Holiday Inn Express, 2666 Corning Rd., Horseheads

When: Wednesday, May 9, 2012    8:00am to 11:00am

Who should attend:  Adult Advisors and Peer Leaders from schools implementing Sources of Strength, suicide prevention stakeholders from the southern Finger Lakes region, those invested in school safety and health, and schools interested in learning more about Sources of Strength.

Adult Advisors will have time to discuss effective strategies in their schools and problem-solve barriers and difficulties with Adult Advisors from other schools. 

Community members can witness how SoS is implemented in local schools and discuss strategies for offering suicide prevention to the broader community using the SoS model. 

Student peer leaders should prepare a presentation, skit or other example to demonstrate:
. Messaging projects they have worked on in their school
. What they have accomplished with SoS at their school
. What SoS has meant to them personally

Or

. Prepare a Sources of Strength message to share (students may use video, personal story, poster, props, description or powerpoint)
