Chemung County Senior Games Get Underway With Softball Tournament

Horseheads - The 2012 Chemung County Senior Games begin Wednesday, May 9th with a 70 and over Softball Tournament.  The tournament begins at 9:30am at the Town of Horseheads Sports Complex off Wygant Road.  The 55+ Softball Tournament will be held Thursday and Friday of this week with eight teams competing from Elmira, Binghamton, Ithaca, and the Cortland areas.

Over 550 athletes competed in last year's Senior Games. This year's games will include athletes competing in a variety of games such as such as golf, bowling, archery, miniature golf, track and field, and bocce. The games will officially open on Saturday, May 12th with ceremonies at Horseheads High School beginning at 10:00am with the Parade of Athletes. Events run through May 23rd and culminate with a banquet for participating athletes at Appleridge Senior Living on May 24th.
