Coordinator of Services for the Aging, CARE Program

Full-Time - Temporary up to one (1) year (Position continuation contingent upon legislative approval)

SCHEDULE:  8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday

GRADE: CSEA Schedule B or B-1, Grade 14,  $24.94-$35.71/hour

This is a responsible position concerned with assisting the administration of the Department of Aging and Long Term Care or directing assigned service components of the Department of Aging and Long Term Care. A  person  in  this position  may be responsible for general,  specific,  long range  and  immediate planning,  assisting  in  the administration of the  program,  coordinating  the various  activities or administering a services component of the Department of Aging and Long Term Care.  May serve as assistant to the Director of the Department of Aging and Long Term Care and the CARE Coordinator. The work  is  performed under general supervision of the CARE Coordinator at the Department of Aging and Long Term Care with  considerable  latitude  allowed  in  the  performance  of  duties.  Supervision may be exercised over subordinates. Does related work as required.

Promotional Qualifications for Employees of Chemung County Departments: 
Candidates must be permanently employed in the Competitive class in a Chemung County department immediately preceding the date of appointment and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for 24 months in an Aging Services Specialist, Caseworker, or Senior Caseworker. 

Open Competitive Qualifications:
A Master's Degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered      college  or  university with major work in social or  behavioral  sciences, public health,  public administration,  recreation,  education,  or related fields  and  one  (1)  year of full-time  paid  supervisory  experience  in community organization or the field of aging; OR
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree with major work in social  or  behavioral  sciences,  public  health,  public  administration, recreation,  education  or related fields and two (2) years of  supervisory experience in community organization or the field of aging; OR
Graduation  from a regionally accredited or New York State registered  two (2)  year  college  with an Associate Degree with major work in social or behavioral sciences,  public health,  public  administration,  recreation, education  or  related fields and four years of supervisory  experience in community organization or the field of aging; OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated  in (A)and (B).
