AmeriCorps Kids First Initiative service members are sponsoring a personal care and hygiene supply drive to benefit Catholic Charities of Chemung County. This drive will be held on: Tuesday July 24, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at 215 East Church Street in Elmira. The public is welcome to participate.
This drive is designed to fill a major need in our community while increasing awareness of the existence of local poverty. There are several programs assisting with emergency food in our community, including the Samaritan Center. However, there are few programs offering assistance with personal care and hygiene supplies.
AmeriCorps Members will be at the Catholic Charities' main office collecting donations of personal care items such as: toothpaste, tooth brushes, mouth wash, dental floss, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, soap, feminine care products, razors, shaving cream, lotions, toilet paper and powder. This is a one day service project; please join us in supporting our local community.
Catholic Charities' Emergency Services Center (Samaritan Center and Second Place East Homeless Services) is located at 380 S. Main St. in Elmira. The center assists individuals and families with their most basic human needs such as: food, clothing and shelter. In addition the Center provides prescription assistance and prevention services to reduce the displacement of individuals.
