1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge Returns to Dormann Library
An exciting new program has arrived at the Dormann Library in Bath, NY. The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge is finally here! This free nationwide program encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children. Kids earn incentives and special rewards along the way, while parents/caregivers build a closer bond with their child and learn helpful ideas.
The challenge is open to any child from birth through five years who has not yet started kindergarten. Registration is open ended, and families may register at any time.
Research has shown that being read to in early childhood is the most reliable predictor of school success. Kids are more prepared to enter kindergarten with the skills they need to succeed. Most importantly, sharing books with children develops a lifelong love of reading and learning.
