It’s time to announce the activities that are happening at the Dormann Library this month for seniors! Did you know that watching birds was something done in medieval homes long before science took them for serious study? Find out more about this topic in the TED Talk: “The Early Birdwatchers” with Tim Birkhead. We will show his TED Talk at the library on Wednesday, February 2 starting at 10:30am. A brief discussion will follow the 28 minute video.
Continuing with our bird theme, we will be playing a card game called CuBirds and coloring realistic birds when we meet at the Dormann on Wednesday, February 9 from 10:30am to 11:30am. To finish out our flights of fancy, we will be meeting to talk about the book: Boy, Snow, Bird by Helen Oyeyemi beginning at 10:30am on Wednesday, February 16. We would be happy to order you a copy of the book to read before the program. This title is available in large print and electronically.
All these Senior Social programs offered at the Dormann are free of charge and do not require pre-registration. While we loosely define seniors as being those that are aged 60 and up, all adults are welcome to join us. Look for a special announcement for what we have in store for seniors at the end of the month!
