The Alzheimer’s Association will offer two FREE statewide initiatives. The seven Alzheimer’s Association Chapters of New York State is hosting in collaboration with the Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center starting next week!
The first series is geared towards the caregiver audience and we have put together a comprehensive tool kit for caregivers that will be presented over the course of seven weeks. The first program, 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease is taking place next Monday, May 4th from 3:00PM-4:00PM. The second series is for the professional audience; continuing education credits will be available to physicians and social workers who attend the sessions. The first speaker will be Dr.Allen Power and his presentation is titled Unlocking the Door: Making Elder Care “Dementia-Friendly.” Dr.Power will present several compelling arguments against segregated living for people diagnosed with dementia. He will reflect upon the attributes of the living environment that can support or erode well -being, and offer a multi – step, practical pathway to creating a more inclusive living enenvironment.
