Steuben County’s Amy Irvine of Rooted Planning Group Honored for

Charitable Work with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County

Bath – July 13, 2021 – Amy Irvine, Founder and Owner of Rooted Planning Group in Corning, recently received Honorable Mention for the Volunteer of the Year Award in the 15th Annual Invest in Others Awards for her philanthropic contributions to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County (CCE Steuben). CCE Steuben will receive a $2,500 donation from Invest in Others in recognition of Amy’s charitable work!

Amy’s nomination was evaluated based on her leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact out of hundreds of nominations submitted from across the country and around the world. She has made a significant impact on our local community by working hands-on and giving of her time, talent, and energy, which speaks to the heart of the Volunteer of the Year Award. Amy holds a Master’s Degree in financial planning and is a Certified Financial PlannerTM, Enrolled Agent, Certified College Financial Consultant, and a Financial Wellness Coach with over 25 years of financial planning and industry experience.  She is the Founder and owner of Rooted Planning Group, (formerly known as Irvine Wealth Planning Strategies LLC), which started in 2016 and has grown to include four other planners and two part-time staff members serving client virtually and in four focused locations around the country.

At the age of 44, Amy decided to not only start her only company, but to act on what she defined as her perfect life.  In 2018, she decided it was time to take the stigma out of finances by combining her passion for finances and wine.  She started a podcast called “Wine and Dime,” which highlights a different wine and financial topic each week, and she released her book combining those same two passions, titled, “Uncork Your Finances.”

She often provides financial education to the community through the Financial Management Program at CCE Steuben by offering free workshops on topics such as Investing, Student Loans and Retirement. She donated a 12-month online series entitled Roadmap to Financial Success to the CCE Steuben Financial Program, a series that typically charges $600 per person that CCE Steuben could fundraise for their program. Amy also became one of CCE Steuben’s Master Money Mentors, which pairs her with individuals who need budget counseling.

Her work with CCE Steuben also allowed her to create her dream – a financial conference just for women. The annual event gathers a diverse group of women to not just learn, but to share their financial and life experiences. The Southern Tier Women’s Financial Conference was established in 2014 to help empower and educate women in our area about financial matters. Statistically women are a powerful financial force! Many women serve as chief financial officers of their households and Amy wanted to make sure these women were prepared for this position. Professional women are invited to lead the conference on a broad array of financial issues, such as budgeting, credit, investing, retirement, social security and identity theft.

Amy also volunteers for various Faith-in-Action and Fund For Women of the Southern Tier events, works with the endowment committee of the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes, and serves on the board for the Corning Painted Post Historical Society (also known as Heritage Village).

From food and nutrition to economic vitality to environmental and social resilience, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) is dedicated to improving lives across New York state. CCE connects communities with Cornell University research from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the College of Human Ecology (CHE) to enrich and empower New York state neighbors, local businesses, towns and cities. In Steuben County CCE builds strong communities through education and collaboration in the areas of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Financial Literacy, Nutrition Education and 4-H Youth Development. If you wish to donate to the CCE Steuben Financial Management Program, visit PutKnowledgeToWork.org/donate or call 607-664-2300.
