Pathways Presents Pinocchio

October 24, 2019 @ 10:45 am

(Horseheads, NY)  Pathways, Inc. and Tri-Cities Opera (TCO) are collaborating to present Pinocchio to participants in the Pathways, Inc. Day Habilitation Program, which serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Steuben and Chemung counties. The program provides services in two locations: Corning and Horseheads, NY. The performance will take place on Thursday, October 24th at 10:45am at the Lukomski Center in Horseheads, which will also serve 30-40 participants from the Chemung Valley Early Learning Center.

Pinocchio is a part of Tri-Cities Opera’s educational Opera-Go-Round (OGR), bringing opera performances to schools throughout New York State and Pennsylvania.  Based on Collodi’s classic story, the 40-minute adaptation features Resident Artists Kevin Bryant (Geppetto/Cat), Emily Cottam (Pinocchio), Langelihle Mngxati (Wolf/Dr. Dulcamara), and Gina Moscato (Olympia/Lady in Blue), accompanied by John Cockerill, TCO’s Assistant Conductor & Music Administrator. The performance is being made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, a loyal supporter of TCO’s educational outreach. Named as a nod to Binghamton’s famous carousels, OGR presented 70 performances last season, reaching over 17,375 students.

Erin Warr, Pathways, Inc. Vice President of Community and Habilitation Services said, “We are very excited about the Tri-Cities Opera performance and for the Pathways, Inc. Day Habilitation attendees and the children at the Early Learning Center to experience and learn about this wonderful art form. This will truly be an experience they will never forget.” To learn more about Pathways, Inc. and their programs, please visit www.pathwaysforyou.org.
