The Book Stops Here Meeting

October 28, 2019 @ 6:00 pm

Being so close to Halloween, it’s the perfect time to hear tales about death and other worldly happenings. The “Book Stops Here” Book Group at the Dormann Library, in partnership with the Jasper Library Book Club, is pleased to announce that the Dormann Library will be hosting local author Stanley Swan for a free talk on Monday, October 28 starting at 6 p.m.

Knowing as a youngster that he would become involved in funeral service, Stanly Swan has always been fascinated by tales of the unknown, past lives and the ‘unusual’.  Growing up in the fifties and sixties, he enjoyed reading the great stories of the legends Alfred Hitchcock and Rod Serling.  After 35 years in funeral work, Stan penned his memoir book: Undertakings of an Undertaker, True Stories of Being Laid to Rest in 2015.

In his new fiction short story book Tales Unleashed, you’ll be astray in fog, sent back in time, projected onto the ‘next level’. You’ll experience the chill of a fortune teller, a pumpkin weeping for home, a crow who stands guard over his domain, a haunted belfry and being ‘lost’ at the drive-in (Stan invites you to his writing site; myundertakings.blogspot.com ….where you will find some interesting stories, posted each and every week.).

Stan will read from his work and answer audience questions about his books and writing process. Copies of both books are available through the Dormann Library and other libraries in the Southern Tier Library System (STLS), if you want to read through them before the program. Light refreshments will also be served. No registration necessary.

Local author Stanley Swan will be speaking at the Dormann Library on Monday, October 28 starting at 6 p.m. This free program is being hosted by the “Book Stops Here” Book Group from the Dormann Library, in partnership with the Jasper Library Book Club.
