    Consumer Resource Aide (Steuben OFA – Corning) –   If you are enthusiastic about a full-time career with benefits, that offers meaningful assistance to older persons/ individuals with disabilities and their families by providing them information, resources, and application assistance, and you have the minimum of an Associate degree in a qualifying field, we encourage you to apply for our Consumer Resource Aide (CRA) position with the Steuben County Office for Aging at the Corning location.

    The CRA will coordinate and manage health insurance/benefits assistance and access to long term services and supports in Steuben County under the Benefits Access and NY Connects Programs.  Key responsibilities of the position include maintaining current knowledge of health insurance programs including Medicare, Medicaid, EPIC, the Affordable Care Act as it pertains to Medicare, and more; screening customers to determine their needs and assisting with the application processes as needed.

    Daily tasks can include customer intake and follow up, maintaining case notes and data in agency-approved software and collecting data needed for reporting purposes. Maintaining resource materials and participation in community outreach will be part of the responsibilities of this position.  The CRA must positively promote the program and maintain the strictest level of confidentiality at all times.

  • Requirements

    The CRA requires at least an Associate Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Gerontology or a related field and two years of relevant experience – or – an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    To be successful in this position, the CRA will have strong interpersonal/communication skills, computer and organizational skills and the ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail.  The ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds and a valid driver’s license meeting agency standards are required.
