The Institute for Human Services, Inc. (IHS) is a nonprofit advocate serving the Southern Tier. Our goal is to support our member organizations through:

Coordination of programs and services that enhance the capacity for other organizations

IHS reacts to the needs of our members by providing local, low-cost, and relevant professional development opportunities. IHS Educational services, in combination with NYCON educational opportunities, provides a comprehensive approach to education.

Wellness G.I.F.T.S. — Giving Inspiration for the Soul

The organization started as a passion project of Janet Opila-Lehman in 2001, and quickly found supportive partnerships in its simple mission: to provide educational, social, emotional, recreational activities, and respite care to all members of families who have children with special needs.
