Input Needed From Specific Industires

With funding from the federal CARES Act, the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning & Development Board (STC) has commissioned a pair of online surveys for employers and workers in Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties.  These anonymous surveys ask detailed questions about the impacts of the COVID shutdowns, the re-opening process, and current barriers to full employment.  We ask workers to share their thoughts about the community, COVID, childcare, job-benefits, training, and the workplace environment.  Employers are asked about current and future hiring needs, recruitment patterns, professional training opportunities, supply chain difficulties, and more.  Together the results of these surveys will guide STC’s post-COVID economic analysis and future workforce and training recommendations.

 Surveys have been available to the public for about 3 weeks, and we are still working to increase participation.  You may hear our advertisement on the radio for the next 11 days. We have sent out two reminders to our mailing list and other groups have also shared the invitation to participate.

If you visit our webpage, you will see there are two different surveys: one for workers and another survey for employers. Please take the time to complete the survey that applies to you and then share it with your peers, friends, and family.  There is a ‘social share’ bar on our website for Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

We especially need participation from workers in the following industries:

Accommodation, food services;

Tourism, arts, and recreation;

Agriculture, forestry, hunting, gravel mining,

Landscaping, construction;

Engineering, design;

Manufacturing;

Transportation, trucking, wholesale trade, and warehousing;

Personal care services and repair services.
