A Look at 55 Years of ProAction of Steuben & Yates, Inc.
Last week, we celebrated our 55th anniversary of Pro Action providing services to our communities. We kicked off the week with this special message from our CEO, and shared some of our agency history:
We were officially established on September 14, 1965 and known as the Steuben Economic Opportunity Program (SCEOP), with only 3 programs and 8 staff.
We changed our name to Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. in 1994 and we proudly offer more than 60 programs and employ over 320 staff!
We put together a video celebrating our past 55 years, how we’ve adapted, changed and evolved in order to continue to meet the needs of those in our communities. The video also highlights our work through the pandemic as we look to the future with our efforts and services. (Click on the link above or the image below to watch the video).

Ahead of our anniversary, staff contributed designs to be considered for use during our celebrations. Pictured to the right, are winners Ashley and Terri, of our Yates Office for the Aging, holding their winning design on a poster. (Click on the image to the right for a closer look at the poster).
Congratulations and thank you to all who submitted!
Thank you Multi Media Services for producing our large banner, posters and yard signs!
During the week of celebrating our 55th Anniversary, we wanted to be sure to include a way to give back to the community. One of the suggestions that came up from our employee feedback was to hold a blood drive. We worked with the local chapter of the American Red Cross and hosted a staff blood drive on Thursday, September 17th! Thank you to the Red Cross and to all who donated.
Continuing our partnerships with Food Bank of the Southern Tier in Steuben County, and Foodlink in Yates County, we were able to assist in hosting food distributions in Yates County on 9/17, serving 146 families and in Steuben County on 9/18, serving over 500 families.
To wrap up the week, some of our staff submitted pictures of themselves wearing our Pro Action t-shirts and holding up signs for our 55th anniversary, and we shared them on our agency social media pages: Facebook , Twitter and Instagram.
