ST. THOMAS EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN BATH, NY

We are looking for volunteers to help in the Community Garden. Volunteer with a Master Gardner that promotes a safe work environment where learning is encouraged and supported. One of the primary focus areas of Steuben County AmeriCorps Seniors/RSVP is Food Insecurity. This is a perfect opportunity to help address this issue in our community. Produce grown in the garden is given to local food pantries and to the Red Door free lunch site at the church. The garden beds are raised for easy accessibility. Volunteers needed Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9-noon. Growers may choose to work for 1-3 hours on the designated days on one or more days.

COVID-19 VACCINE CLINICS

The COVID-19 Vaccines are rolling out at record speeds. You can help and be part of this historic event. Volunteers are still needed to help at vaccination clinics managed by Steuben County Public Health, all over the county. Assignments range from Welcome Greeters, to Data Enterers, to Medical Professionals.

STEUBEN SENIOR SERVICES FUND

They are seeking a volunteer to be trained to use the duplicator machine on a monthly schedule to print the Aging in Place Newsletters. These newsletters assist older county residents to age in place and access needed services. Some lifting and standing required. Training and supervision provided.

CAREFIRST

Bereavement Call Volunteers

CareFirst is seeking Bereavement Call Volunteers. You would be extensively trained to make condolence calls and provide supportive outreach via phone, to caregivers whose loved ones were receiving CareFirst support. The location is at the volunteer office at CareFirst in Coopers Plains. Must be able to use a computer for data entry.

Petal Pushers

CareFirst is looking for volunteers to assist with the distribution and organization of the flowers for their Petal Pushers Geranium Sale. Assistance will be needed at the CareFirst Coopers Plains location. Please call Mary Dugo at (607)664-2298 for further details.

BAMPA’S HOUSE

Corning Comfort Care, “Bampa’s House” In Corning, NY is in need of Resident Care Volunteers. The volunteers will provide end of life quality care to the residents and help to support families. Training provided and you may shadow a volunteer. There are also other volunteer opportunities such as fundraising, lawn care, housecleaning, errand runners and many more!

PROJECT CARE

Do you have just a few hours a week to help a senior get to a doctor appointment or the grocery store? Project CARE is in search of volunteers to assist with transportation and shopping for seniors in and around the Greater Bath area. Now utilizing RideScheduler, a user-friendly web-based scheduler system, which allows you to individualize your experience! You can easily view and select transportation opportunities when it’s convenient for you, from your computer, tablet, or smartphone!

THE RAMP GUYS

Spring is here and there’s work to do! The Ramp Guys are gearing up for “ramp season”, building low-to-no-cost ramps for people throughout Steuben County. Working with the Office for the Aging, this dedicated group helps individuals maintain their freedom and independence. It doesn’t matter if you’re a guy or a gal, have experience in construction or not. If you’re looking for a way to help people and spend some time outdoors, this may be the opportunity for you!
